COMPUTER USE AGREEMENT - Revised by the Library Board on November 2, 2011

SAVE YOUR WORK TO AN EXTERNAL STORAGE DEVICE ON A CONTINUAL BASIS WHILE WORKING ON THE LIBRARY’S PUBLIC COMPUTERS.

1. The computer equipment, purchased and maintained by village taxpayers, is made available for Library card holders in GOOD standing, i.e. fine list is under $5.00 (preferably all fines are paid), all overdue materials have been returned, and any lost materials have been paid for.

2. Card holders can access the public use computers at their own discretion after reading and agreeing to this policy online.  Children under the age of 8 years must be accompanied and supervised at the computer by a parent or guardian.

3.  Patrons may save files to their own removable storage devices, such as a flash drive.  Flash drives may also be borrowed for temporary use or purchased @ the Help Desk for $5.00.
No personal files are saved on the hard driveThe library is not responsible for loss of data and physical damage to personal disks and/or storage devices while using the library’s public computers.

4. Use of the public access computers is on a first come, first served basis.  Due to limited resources available for the provision of public access to the Internet, the library may limit Internet use to 60 minutes per day. Priority is given to those working on school assignments, resume preparation, etc.

5. Staff will gladly assist patrons with computer use as time permits, but cannot provide extensive instruction.

6. Printer material will be charged at 10 cents per page. Full color copy is 50 cents per page.

7. Please be aware that the library has no control over the resources on the Internet. The library cannot guarantee the reliability or currency of information found there. Parents or guardians should be aware that some information sites may contain objectionable and even illegal information.

8. Computer users may not alter, destroy, or in any way change computer settings. Installing, deleting or modifying programs on the hard drives is strictly prohibited.

9. The Library staff has the right to restrict computer usage for those persons who cannot abide by the regulations of the Library as a whole, or whose use of the computers results in the harassment of others. Engaging in any activity that is harassing, defamatory, or illegal will result in a loss of access to the library's resources.   Illegal or prohibited acts may include but are not limited to: unauthorized copyright use, viewing obscene material or viewing sexually explicit material resulting in complaints from other patrons or staff, falsification of documents, violating software licenses, damaging or attempting to damage Library equipment/software/software configurations, or compromising system security.

10. Vandalism will result in cancellation of privileges and other disciplinary action. Vandalism is defined as any malicious attempt to harm or destroy data and includes, but is not limited to, the uploading or creation of computer viruses.

11. The Glen Carbon Centennial Library cannot be held liable for any lost, damaged, or unavailable information due to technical or other difficulties.

12. The user agrees to hold harmless the Glen Carbon Centennial Library, the members of the Board of Trustees, its employees and agents from any claim, demand, liability, cause of action, suit, judgment or expense (including attorney's fees) arising out of the breach of this agreement.
